  1. Almost everything on this web site is "local" i.e. there are few links to other's web sites. In the places where I have links to off-site pages, I have, at least once, verified that the off-site links work. However since I first wrote this site several years have passed and some links have broken. It's nice that the internet is a dynamic system and sometimes the links "break". When a link breaks there is nothing I can to until I get some indication that it is broken and if I can, I'll try and discover what the new link is, get a replacement link or delete the link.

  2. I have made an effort to make this data accessible with any device that can access a web site by using very basic HTML code. I have tested the site with old and new Android cell phones, old and new Android tablets and older Apple equipment. (Yes I am Android user, my children and wife are Apple type users. We still get along great.)

  3. Many times the exact format and behaver of view files will very depending on the exact browser that is being used. The display will vary between PCs, Androids and iPhones, etc. This is due to the very simple HTML that I write. There is nothing in the files that atempts to compensate for different browsers, etc.

  4. Most of this data is in PDF or JPG format. The JPG data is handy as it is easily navigated with using the browser that I usually use on my tablet. The PDF data usually has to be downloaded onto my tablet before I can navigate with it and the default tools that I use do not easily navigate in the downloaded data. I have made an attempt to indicate the size of many files. This is so that if you are downloading it you have some indication of how long it may take to obtain the file.

  5. When I found what seem to be identical copies of a manual, or catalog, and when the sizes are different, I have kept copies of all the different copies here. As different people scan in these older documents there are many differences in the success of scanning in old documents that may be found today. In some cases some pages may not be readable in one scan but are readable on a different scan, etc. Since I am trying to get the most usable information available, I just included the various copies that I was able to find.

  6. All of the videos are off-site and the links may get broken. I would like to make a local copy, but I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Some of the videos taken with digital cameras and cell phones have incompatible formats with some browsers. When this happens a "black screen of uncooperaton" may apear. This is usually displayed with .MOV format files, other file formats may be discovered as time goes on. However it is quite common to have video/movie files require downloading before the system will display them.

  7. There used to be several sections on volunteer work that I have done in the Sierras on this page. These sections are now in their own web site hsvtc.com.

  8. Originally the pictures here were taken with any digital camera that people had available. (The first ones I took where scanned in images of a film camera's printed paper results.) The formats of automatically generated file names are almost anything. In the last few years I finally got a cell phone that I used for taking pictures with. These pictures have an anumatically generated file name with this being a common format: "20210708_115035.jpg". This time/tag name may be broken down as follows:

    Picture Name Format for "20210708_115035.jpg"
    YearMonthDaydelimiterHourMinuteSecondFormat
    2021 07 08 _ 11 50 35 .jpg
