Trip rating system


  1. Level 1-A Rating (Some what easier than Extreme) Back Packing Trips THIS IS NOT A TRIP FOR THE PHYSICALLY CHALLENGED, you will endure many hardships but you will have pack stock support in carrying some of the gear and tools. You may even ride in on a horse and walk back out carrying all equipment and gear, so make sure you are up to the task before you sign up.
  2. Level 2 Rating (Intensely Challenging) This is still physically demanding you will walk long distance daily generally 6 to 12 miles round trip and will return to base camp each night. You will carry your lunch & water for the day and tools, your work will also require substantial endurance. You should be in excellent cardio shape.
  3. Level 2-A Rating (Challenging) This is still physically demanding you will walk long distance daily generally 4 to 8 miles round trip and will return to base camp each night. You will carry your lunch & water for the day and tools, your work will also require good endurance. You should be in excellent cardio shape.
  4. Level 3 Rating (Moderate) This is still physically demanding but you will not be required to walk long distance daily, and will return to base camp each night. Generally this work will be general maintenance of Bear box's, Campground, USFS buildings, etc. You should have excellent working skills with power tools and general shop equipment.
  5. Level 4 Rating (Easy) This is a Family oriented projects good for all ages, minimal tools required, mostly rakes, shovels, brooms and pruners. You will be close to camp or you auto
  6. Level 5 Rating (Demanding) You will have to complete Chain Saw training in the spring of 2003 and received your certificate of training from the USFS of Level A Chain Saw for this project. You can expect to carry all the equipment need for the chain saw and be able to walk with this gear up to 10 miles round trip. You should be in excellent cardio shape.
